LINKS À LA MODE: THE IFB WEEKLY ROUNDUP

0 Comments 25 AUGUST 2011

Knock, knock, Who’s there? It’s me September! The month you learn to love and hate… But love more.

That’s right everyone September is right around the corner waiting to knock on your door. As fashion bloggers this gets to be a rather insane month. You run around like crazy from place to place and your schedule may seem never ending. I don’t know about you, but I tend to ask myself… How can I top last September? It’s a month for makeovers! Now before you go grab your friends and have a scene straight out of Clueless, let me clarify what I mean by makeover. I don’t expect you to be only concerned about what you’re wearing but EVERYTHING! I believe September is a great month for change. Refresh your wardrobe, change your writing style up a bit, find different angles to cover shows, go back and look at last September and figure out how to spice things up this year, perhaps it’s time to refresh your gadgets?, change your make-up palette, read new content, simply explore! Change is usually a good thing.

One upside to working in retail is you always get to see the trends of each upcoming season. As co-manager of my store, I am in charge of brand merchandising and right now our focus is animal prints and flare jeans. This fall, everything from shirts, to scarfs, shoes, to accessories, are covered in animal prints, especially leopard.

Here is a collage of just some of the pieces you might want to have in your closet this fall. Meow. The Cat's Meow

Depending on your style, you can do a lot of animal print or just spice up a classic look with a belt on the wild side but either way this fall you should definitely grab at least one piece to stay stylish on your own  catwalk!

Seeing red

Thursday, August 11, 2011

Red soles are officially NOT just Christian Louboutin’s staple anymore.

In a New York court room the bitter battle between Christian Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent took place. Louboutin accused YSL of trademark infringement in April.

US District Judge Victor Marrero denied a request by Louboutin for a preliminary injunction against YSL’s red soles. In his ruling, Marrero hinted that Louboutin cannot prevent others from using red soles, even though it’s a signature part of the designs, it’s not the sole (excuse the pun) reason the brand is well-known.
“Because in the fashion industry color serves ornamental and aesthetic functions vital to robust competition, the court finds that Louboutin is unlikely to be able to prove that its red outsole brand is entitled to trademark protection.”
In 2008, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted Louboutin a registered trademark for the red soles. Louboutin is seeking more than $1 million dollars in damages for the alleged infringement, claiming he was the first designer to create red soles for women’s shoes.

Arm candy: BDIB

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

I wasn't going to participate in this bloggers do it better but after seeing all the great posts, I was inspired.

This BDIB, Arm Party, was really hard for me. I have my two normal cuffs that I love to wear, one silver and one antique gold, and that's about it. I wear necklaces and earrings to accessorize as well so I don't have a lot of bracelets.

It's funny that this was the BDIB because I have been looking for a nice watch to wear because I like the look but I just haven't found that perfect watch yet. This post has definitely inspired me to keep looking until I find the right one :)

Here is my arm candy. Enjoy!! xo

Watch - Fossil
Pearls - Willow Boutique
Charm Bracelet - one of my best friends
Necklace - Express

I love the BDIB concept because it makes you step out of the box sometimes. I liked my arm candy so much that I even wore it to work. So thanks to Kristina for creating BDIB! It's a great community to be a part of ♥

Demi Moore's newest role

A prominent memory in her teen life and shopping experience, Demi Moore is now the new face of Ann Taylor.

Ads for the new fall campaign will be revealed in September issues. Moore is excited about the new endeavor.
“It is the quintessential American brand for modern working women, and is a company of women, for women. They really understand what women need today to be confident and successful. The new fall collection is chic, comfortable and beautiful from the inside out, and as versatile and diverse as the lives we lead.” -Demi Moore.
The campaign, shot by famed fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier, will feature Moore in some of her favorite pieces from the fall collection. With New York City as the backdrop, this campaign has sophisticated chic written all over it.

Next big thing or flavor of the week?

Monday, August 1, 2011

A lot of buzz has been created about 10-year-old model, (YES 10!), Thylane Blondeau. She is getting a lot of notice, and fast! But, is it because she is the perfect mold for a model or is it because she is ONLY ten years old.

What do you think? Is she the next big thing or just the flavor of the week?
